Slow Cooker Ranch Pork Chops Without Canned Soup
These slow cooked pork chops are simple with just a few ingredients. We aren’t using canned soup because, honestly, I don’t use that as an ingredient a whole lot. But, if you are looking for the saucy canned soup type of pork chops (no judgement here) there are plenty of that style of recipe around the web.
Nope. We’re using pork chops, potatoes, olive oil, dry ranch mix, apple cider vinegar and butter. No special ingredients needed.
How Long Do Pork Chops Take To Cook In A Crockpot
Cooking on high heat you want to do approximately 3 hours. On low, 5-6 hours should do.
What Type Of Pork Chop Is Best For Slow Cooking
While this recipe can be made with bone-in or boneless pork chops, I’m gonna be honest, boneless chops are not the best for slow cooking.
The bone helps to keep the pork chops from drying out.
What Temp Should Pork Chops Be Cooked To
Check out this handy Pork Temperature Breakdown by Pork.org. Basically for pork chops you want the internal temp to reach 145ºF-160ºF. That is a wide range because it depends how you like your pork cooked, medium-rare to well.
With that being said, these slow cooked pork chops will definitely be cooked through.
In the above photo the pork chops have been seared to seal in the juices and make them look more appealing. Below is the ‘dump everything in the slow cooker’ method.
Either way works. But as stated, the pre-seared chops look much better when serving and retain a bit more juice. You choose depending on preference and the amount of time you have to prep.

Recently made this. I added zucchini for extra veggies. I think I might add some lemon slices as well for extra flavor. I think it is pretty good and I can see adding more stuff in the future.
We tried this tonight and really enjoyed it! I used bone-in pork chops and a non-dairy ranch seasoning and Melt vegan butter as I’m dairy-free. I seared the pork chops beforehand and it turned out great! Thanks for giving us something new to try.
Can I make this in the oven?
Thanks for the recipe. I too did this on the Instapot for 16 minutes. Other variations: cut the oil in half, subbed with ½ c of chicken broth. Dredged the pork chops in a flour salt, pepper, ranch seasoning mix and then seared them. Added a large yellow onion, and garlic and seasoned the potatoes with a little salt and pepper. T was fast, and incredibly delicious. The porkchops were one inch bone in and so incredibly tender. Thanks for providing the starting point!
Why would you start out showing a picture w BONELESS chops and almost immediately say you don’t use boneless because bone-in is so much better!? Guess you may not be using your own pictures?….
We made this dish last night and like you said it was boring and my chops came out dry. Only good part were then potatoes. Followed the steps to the letter but not happy. Needs tweaking for sure.
Seriously! Some people are so rude! And they should be called out, like your reply did, Marie. “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Or at least include specifics.
Chicken broth is my go-to with pork.
I don’t know when I’ve ever seen so many comments on a single recipe! I read most of them and almost didn’t try it because of the negative comments. I took most of the ideas to heart though and went ahead. I added more ranch seasoning, a whole sweet yellow onion cut in 8ths, two more teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, and a quarter cup of chicken stock. I also reduced the amount of olive oil but wondered why it was even needed. I looked at several similar recipes and noticed that none of them called for any kind of oil at all. My chops were very thick, so I cooked them on low for 8 hours, and they still were not fall apart tender. I am convinced that many of those who were complaining about the blandness had pork chops that were very thick. I’ve had that problem with every recipe I’ve made with this last batch of pork chops I ordered. They are so thick and dense that the flavors have a hard time permeating the meat. We enjoyed the meal, but I think it would have been a whole lot better with thinner chops. Just wanted to throw in my two cents worth.
So you cook it on high for 3 hours or low for 5 to 6?
I made this tonight, it’s cooking as I’m typing this. After reading the reviews I added about 1/2 cup chicken broth, the rest of the ranch packet, garlic and onion powder, cooking on high 3-3.5 hours. Plus I diced in some “new potatoes, skins on, I’ll let you know.
I agree with you. The guidelines on pork have changed because trichinosis is not an issue anymore. I like my pork tenderloin slightly pink, but I want my pork chops to be fork tender. Using bone in with some marbled fat is perfect for a slow cooker.
What r the macros without the potatoes??
This is a family favourite!!
Thank you for posting this quick meal. That’s exactly what I was looking for on a hot summer day after church not wanting to turn the oven/stove on. I read every single review. I seasoned and added a lil oil to the potatoes before adding to Crockpot. I lightly seasoned and pan seared the pork chops. Purchased thin bone-in pork chops. I can tend to over season didn’t want to do that with adding the whole packet of ranch seasoning. The chops were a lil bland, it was definitely edible and the potatoes made up for it. Maybe next time I’ll add two ranch packets. Definitely worthy of making again. Cooked on high for 3.5hrs. Thanks again for the lovely, easy, quick recipe.
Just made this! I made the sauce with an extra tblspn of ranch, acv, and evvo. Also added garlic and a little Tony chacheres creole seasoning! Once cooked I added corn starch to the dripping and made a gravy! Delicious!!!
I always season my meat before I put it in the crockpot.
Thanks for the tip. I love the instapot so will try this recipe.
I made this today and followed the extra flavor comments, was very good, my chops were dry though, they were extra thick so that may have been it, so I made a gravy for them. My only other concern was that there is a lot of grease, 1/2 cup of oil and then a pat of butter on each pork chop, left a lot of grease on the potatoes. I think next time I will use a broth or stock instead of the oil
HI What if I took out pork chop for Chicken. What changes would I make to the recipe?
Not sure what happened with this recipe but it’s very bland, boring, and pork was overcooked. I followed the recipe to a T; even added all the extras based on the author’s notes (plus extra seasoning based on some 9f the comments) but still a no go. Sorry but this is not something that I will try again.
