Slow Cooker Ranch Pork Chops Without Canned Soup

These slow cooked pork chops are simple with just a few ingredients. We aren’t using canned soup because, honestly, I don’t use that as an ingredient a whole lot. But, if you are looking for the saucy canned soup type of pork chops (no judgement here) there are plenty of that style of recipe around the web.

Nope. We’re using pork chops, potatoes, olive oil, dry ranch mix, apple cider vinegar and butter. No special ingredients needed.

How Long Do Pork Chops Take To Cook In A Crockpot

Cooking on high heat you want to do approximately 3 hours. On low, 5-6 hours should do.

What Type Of Pork Chop Is Best For Slow Cooking

While this recipe can be made with bone-in or boneless pork chops, I’m gonna be honest, boneless chops are not the best for slow cooking.

The bone helps to keep the pork chops from drying out.

What Temp Should Pork Chops Be Cooked To

Check out this handy Pork Temperature Breakdown by Pork.org. Basically for pork chops you want the internal temp to reach 145ºF-160ºF. That is a wide range because it depends how you like your pork cooked, medium-rare to well.

With that being said, these slow cooked pork chops will definitely be cooked through.

In the above photo the pork chops have been seared to seal in the juices and make them look more appealing. Below is the ‘dump everything in the slow cooker’ method.

Either way works. But as stated, the pre-seared chops look much better when serving and retain a bit more juice. You choose depending on preference and the amount of time you have to prep.

  1. I wanted this to taste good I even followed the notes but the acv was too overpowering for us. So I will try again and maybe less or eliminate it all 🤷‍♀️

  2. Made this and the pork chops were ok, but we loved the potatoes. I probably won’t do the chops again but I will use this to make the potatoes as a side dish. I did tweak a little by halving the oil and doubling vinegar along with whole packet of ranch. Thanks so much!

  3. Tried to this tonight and cooked it for the family! It was excellent in our opinions, definitely will do again! ❤️ Tender pork chops and soft potatoes!

  4. Made this and it was absolutely perfect. I did add 2 packages of ranch (because who doesn’t love more ranch) and some onion powder, but I didn’t sear the pork chops like everyone has suggested. The chops were moist and juicy. I’m not sure why everyone said they were so bland. The natural flavor of the meat was divine. Just needed a pinch of salt after it was plated and it was one of the best Pinterest meals I’ve had in awhile. Thank you for posting!

  5. This is the first bad review I have ever written. Prepared with the suggestions other people used. It was still one of the most unappetizing meals I have fixed in 60 years!! Deleting from my Pinterest feed!!

  6. I followed the directions exactly and the chops were very dried out. I lightly seared them, and then had them in the crockpot on low for five hours. They were all between 3/4’’ and an inch thick. The internal temp ended up being 188 degrees! I was very disappointed. I didn’t think I’d have to keep checking the temperature like three hours in. Potatoes were good. I added the extra ranch. This would have been pretty good if the timing was accurate.

  7. I love this recipe! I have made it many times and don’t sear it most of the time. Who cares what it looks like, it’s so tender and delicious! I’m making it tonight and will try adding carrots too like I saw someone else has done. Thanks for posting this!

  8. I agree probably one of the worst recipes I’ve ever made!,, All you could taste was oil.

  9. I made these and instead of apple cider vinegar, I added zesty Italian dressing I pretty much eyeballed how much to put in. Was very flavorful.

  10. I have made this recipe twice for me and my husband. We both love it! But I have always put in the entire package of ranch dressing. And a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I use boneless, thin pork chops in the crock pot and they are so tender you can cut them with a butter knife. I seared them the first time but not the second and didn’t notice a difference.

  11. I’m a grown woman who is a complete cooking novice. I cooked this on low for 5.5 hrs and the pork chops were a bit chewy. I seared the chops first. Should I lower the time?

  12. Bland boring tasteless. Fed 4 pork chops to the dog.as others stated dry and flakey. Wish I had read comments first.

  13. You are right about the boneless pork chops! Mine were dried out. But the sauce was yummy! I used the whole packet of ranch and added garlic powder and 1/4 Vidalia onion. I mixed in some corn starch to thicken it up because the chops were dry. Still tasted good. Thank you!

  14. Made this tonight 01/07/2024. Did not follow the recipe lol. Placed 5 bone in chops in my insta pot, maybe 2 cups of apple cider vinegar, 1 1/2 cups chicken broth, 2 cups of water, red potatoes, 2 teaspoons of minced garlic, salt, 2 dry ranch packets, onion powder set on pressure cook for 20 mins…… BOOM fall off the bone flavorful pork chops, potatoes where super soft and so so good!!!!!

  15. I made this tonight but with some changes. Didn’t have Apple Cider vinegar so I used the brine from my pickled hot peppers. I used a whole packet of Ranch and added baby carrots the last hour of cooking time. And seasoned my potatoes and pork chops with onion and garlic powder and s&p.
Next time I will probably replace the oil with chicken stock. Too greasy for me.
My chops were boneless so they were a little dry but nothing a little bbq sauce couldn’t fix next time I will use bone in chops and check it at 2 hrs. My slow cooker runs hot.

  16. Dry pork chops and flavorless. Seared with salt and pepper. Added in your additions – onion and more dry ranch. Waste of expensive pork chops sadly.

  17. I thought this recipe was very flavorful. I made it 2 weeks ago and I wasn’t a fan of the oily taste so I made it today with chicken broth instead of olive oil and it was very good. Thanks for your recipe.

  18. I did add extra ranch seasoning and I browned the chops before the crockpot, but everything was still bland. I had 8oz pork chops, so maybe my pork to ranch seasoning ratio was off. Knowing the weight of 6 pork chops would have been helpful.

  19. Absolutely wonderful, made this recipe just by the recipe and enjoyed it and so did my neighbor also.
This will be my go to recipe weekly!

  20. Loved this the first time I made it and am doing this again for dinner! It was a favorite!!
