Can I use chicken thighs instead of breasts?

Yes! Boneless, skinless chicken thighs work great and stay extra juicy.

Why is my rice undercooked?

Slow cookers vary. If rice isn’t tender, add ¼ cup hot broth and cook an additional 20–30 minutes.

Can I cook this on high the whole time?

You can, but low and slow produces better texture and prevents overcooked rice.

  1. My husband and I don’t eat chicken but I make this with boneless pork chops I don’t care for onion soup mix so I use double French onion soup.

  2. I made this recipe using Basmati rice doing low for five hours with a brand new crock pot and the rice came out mushy. I also oiled the sides and added a couple tablespoons of oil to the mixture but it still stuck to the surface.

The chicken was mostly tender and overall the dish was somewhat tasty but the mushy rice made it taste bland overall.

Crockpot French Onion Chicken ans Rice Recipe was a hit for both my husband and I. Easy to assemble and supper ready at he end of the day. Chicken not dry but moist. I used a package of shredded Swiss & Gruyere cheese instead of the Provolone & Mozzarella. Either I’m sure would be delicious. I liked this recipe didn’t include condensed soup !
