Cajun Blackened Salmon In Oven

This has got to be one of the most flavorful and simple dinners you can make. The blackening seasoning is like firecrackers in your mouth ← in a good way, of course 😆

Sheet Pan Salmon has become a staple at my house. There are just so many flavor combinations like this Lemon Dill Baked Salmon, Maple Mustard Salmon & Asparagus and Honey Garlic Salmon.

Is Blackened Salmon Good For You

Yes! It is simple salmon, oil and spices. That’s it. This salmon is a great healthy dinner protein.

What Is In Blackening Season

There are many slight variations. This blackening season is made up of onion powder, garlic powder, dried oregano, cayenne, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.

If you do not like spicy, just omit the cayenne. Or add more for extra spicy.

  1. What a great recipe! Added roasted garlic powder, Old Bay, coriander, and a touch of cumin because we like spice, and it came out great. I will never make blackened salmon in a cast iron skillet again.

  2. What a great idea. I usually blacken mine the traditional way in a skillet on the stove, but cleaning up is a big chore, and the fumes are not fun either. Your spices are on the money! I’ll try this today. No parchment parer here, so hopefully using butter or oil on the baking sheet will suffice.

I agree, this is a great tasting, simple healthy dish. I usually serve it up with an oven baked sweet potato (much tastier than nuking it in the microwave) drizzled w/ a little butter, and a large salad of organic ingredients topped with cut up apples and almonds. Thanks Nicole!

  3. I just tried this recipe and it came out PERFECT!!! Super yummy and the salmon was just as flaky as I wanted it. It’s definitely one of my favs now and I like the seasoning blend so much I’m going to make some tilapia with it too.

  4. I was looking for an alternative to pan frying b/c we don’t have an external range vent. Made the salmon last night and served it with roasted sweet potatoes, broccoli and yellow onion. Coated the side with a EVOO, garlic and onion powder, and cracked blacked pepper. Simply put, your spice mix and cooking method are spot on. We thoroughly enjoyed the blackened salmon. Will coat chicken and other seafood with your mix recipe. Thank you.

Thank you for this excellent recipe. The baking temperature and time were perfect. The spice mix is great; I tweaked it slightly (added thyme, left out the onion powder because I didn’t have it, boosted the garlic powder and black pepper a bit, and dropped the cayenne).
