Shrimp In Spicy Chili Sauce

Chili Garlic Shrimp is proof that great food doesn’t have to be complicated. It tastes like you’ve spent hours in the kitchen, but in reality, it’s fast, fuss-free, and totally satisfying.

Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overcook the shrimp: They cook fast and can become rubbery if left too long.
  • Play with the heat: Use Thai chilies or chili paste for a stronger kick, or tone it down with sweet bell peppers.
  • Make it a meal: Toss with pasta, rice or veggies for a full entrée.
  • Saucy: The sauce will thicken even more once cooled. You can thin it with more broth, water, or olive oil if needed.

Ingredients

  • Lb jumbo shrimp
  • Salt/pepper to taste
  • 3-4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoons fresh garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 medium red chilis I use 4 birdseye chilis, for very spicy thinly sliced with seeds
  • 2 teaspoons parsley finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons sweet garlic chili sauce

Instructions

  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 1 minute per side. Until the shrimp is just turning pink. For smaller shrimp cooking time should be reduced. Set aside.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low. Deglaze the skillet with water, add garlic and chilis. Cook for 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant. Add the garlic chili sauce.
  • Return the shrimp, toss in the sauce for 1-2 minutes. Remove just the shrimp on a serving plate.
  • Add butter and parsley to the sauce. Adjust seasoning if needed and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Pour the sauce over the shrimp and serve immediately.
