This awesome recipe is thanks to my daughter. I told her she could come up with any dessert recipe and we would attempt to make it. Thank goodness she asked for white chocolate covered popcorn with sprinkles. I could’ve ended up making a fancy layer cake with a six year old! Yikes!

Being so close to Independence Day we decided to make 4th of July Dessert Popcorn. Red, White and Blue never tasted so good!

I made my own patriotic sprinkle mixture with nonpareils, white sugar pearls, sparkling white sprinkles and sugar stars.

Not only is this chocolatey popcorn great for feeding a crowd but it is fantastic for kid helpers.

I’m just going to come out and say it. . . I hate cooking with kids! Hate it! There I said it.

Everyone always seems to be posting cute photos and stories about how wonderful it is to have little helpers in the kitchen. Ummm, yeah. Not me. I blame my limited amount of patience. I am just not one of those people.

But this recipe is totally doable. The little helpers get to pop microwave popcorn, drizzle chocolate and help with sprinkles. Done.

Now that is my kind of kid cooking project! {don’t worry, my daughter is perfectly content being the official taste-tester}
