Banana bread is one of my favorites since childhood. I would ask my Mom to make banana bread instead of cake for my birthday. So these banana bread donuts have been a long time coming. And how can banana bread be improved, you ask? Chocolate, of course! This rich, dark chocolate glaze puts these donuts over the top of deliciousness!
The banana makes these donuts extra soft and moist.

- 3/4 Cup AP Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 Ripe Banana - mashed
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Butter - softened
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 Tablespoon Whole Milk
- 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Dutch Process Cocoa Powder
- 1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Whole Milk
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Using hand mixer; combine butter, sugar and banana.
- Add egg, vanilla and milk.
- Mix in dry ingredients.
- Divide batter between 6 standard donut molds that have been sprayed with nonstick.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes.
- Transfer to rack and allow to cool completely before glazing.
- Mix all glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Dip each donut into glaze. Allow glaze to set then serve.
- Store donuts in refrigerator.
