Summer isn’t over yet.  We still need to keep our bods looking top notch!

Apparently coffee can help to temporarily minimize the appearance of cellulite by tightening the tissue.  At least, this is what the experts claim.  I’m no cellulite expert.  But it is worth a shot.  And, fresh coffee grounds are recommended for better results.

This Coffee Body Scrub is my favorite scrub recipe so far.  Of course, I love coffee so much it makes sense that I would want to slather myself with it!

Just mix coffee grounds, brown sugar, cinnamon and oil.  Bam! Done.

You’re ready to scrub, scrub, scrub.

I don’t think you are supposed to let coffee grounds wash down the drain.  So I use a mesh drain plug to catch the grounds and then discard them in the garbage.  But if any of you are plumbers and feel differently, let me know.  Right now I am using caution so I don’t mess up my plumbing system.

  1. I love making all my own scrubs. The coffee one is a regular scrub I make all the time, I can’t wait to try the others πŸ™‚

  2. Wow very cool! Dudes really aren’t the “scrub” type, but I’m going to show this to the wife πŸ™‚

    • Nicole Harris says:

You’re not the tweezing, scrub, mani/pedi type of guy!?!? hehe. Your wife will like it πŸ˜€

  3. Shannon says:

I just made this. It smells great and my skin is super smooth but not oily and sticky.

  4. Joelle says:

You don’t have to worry about small amounts of coffee grounds going down the drain, not only will it not gum up the works, it helps to clean your pipes so that things don’t get clogged. No I am not a plumber, but I did confirm it with my plumber.

  5. Wendy Acosta says:

I’m looking forward to making this it It looks and sounds amazing!
One question though have you or anyone of your readers seen the effects it has on cellulite?

    Great site!

    • Nicole Harris says:

I don’t really have any cellulite to test it out on. I hope a reader will come back and comment if it does work. There are a lot of testimonials online if you search coffee scrub for cellulite.

  6. Miranda says:

Im going to give this scrub to my mom for christmas πŸ™‚ therefore I am wondering how long this scrub is going to last? And, where should it be stored? in the fridge maybe?

    • Nicole Harris says:

Hi Miranda. Homemade scrubs last quite a while as long as they are kept in a clean sealed container. I have been using mine for over 6 months. I don’t store it in the fridge and it is fine. Enjoy!

  7. CherieWedekind says:

I am a licensed aesthetician, any ground ‘shells’ rubbed on your face creates MICROLESIONS which lead to miniscule scare tissue! Creating thick grainy skin texture( best case scenario), esacerbated skin blemishes and premature aging( worse case scenario)! Sugar and natural acid scrubs/peels are the most beneficial to your goals of healthy looking skin!! I love coffee just as much as the rest of us, but recommend further study of holistic remedies.

    • Nicole Harris says:

Yikes! Thanks for the info. Hopefully nobody is scrubbing their face with this.

  8. This is a classic scrub we retail in my studio Hopefully nobody is washing their face with this, it does say BODY scrub. πŸ™‚

  9. Sarah says:

Would this work well with coconut oil or should I just stick with olive oil?

    • Nicole Harris says:

You can use you preferred oil. Just remember that coconut oil does become solid once the cool weather comes around. But, it still works as a thick scrub πŸ™‚

  10. Great!!!
Just wondering how long we can keep the scrub πŸ™‚

  11. Ugh! I really needed this. I really don’t want to spend money on those creams and what not.

  12. diana says:

hi! 😊 is your coffee coursely ground or finely ground? i would just want to know. thank you!

    • Nicole Harris says:

I believe I used course ground. But I’m sure fine ground will work too.

  13. Melissa says:

When I make my salt scrub I add a couple of teaspoons of vitamin E oil to keep it fresh. The last batch lasted nearly 5 months and still worked great at the end!
