No Mayo Vinegar Coleslaw
I prefer coleslaw that is made with vinegar instead of mayonnaise. It is lighter, healthier and works fantastic as a topping on pulled pork sandwiches or tacos.
The other major bonus to vinegar based slaw is not having to worry about rancid mayo. If you are bringing coleslaw to a picnic, potluck or bbq you may not be able to refrigerate it before serving.
Is Coleslaw Good For Health
The mayonnaise based coleslaws can be high in fat and calories due to the mayo. But this slaw recipe is absolutely healthy! Cabbage is low in calories and high in vitamins.
Ingredients Needed For Vinegar Coleslaw (screenshot for grocery list)
- Bag of Coleslaw Mix
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Whole Ground Mustard
- Maple Syrup
How Do You Make No Mayo Vegan Coleslaw
- Combine vinegar, mustard, and maple syrup. Pour mixture over cabbage coleslaw mix.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately for crisp slaw or let sit at least 15 minutes for a softer coleslaw texture.
How Long Does Homemade Slaw Last
Coleslaw will last 3-5 days in the refrigerator, especially vinegar based slaw. The cabbage will release liquid over time so just keep that in mind.

Curious why it has 8 grams of fat per serving. There is no appreciable fat in any of the ingredients?

I have been having issues with nutrition calculator, to be totally honest. I find that they all have conflicting nutritional data depending how they read the ingredients. I think fat may have been added to this bc I listed ‘Coleslaw Mix’ which many times contains a mayonnaise based dressing inside. Here is a (hopefully) more accurate write up: Calories 54
