This is The Best Caprese Salad Recipe because it keeps it simple, fresh and easy. Using end of summer tomatoes and basil bring amazing flavor so we are keeping the balsamic dressing to just a few ingredients to highlight the fresh produce and creamy mozzarella.

Easy Caprese Salad With Cherry Tomatoes

Making super fresh seasonal salads is a great way to enjoy local produce. I bought these orange and red tiger striped cherry tomatoes at my local farmer’s market for $1 per basket! I love a deal almost as much as I love fresh ingredients.

What Type Of Tomatoes Are Best For Caprese Salad

I prefer to use small cherry tomatoes because they don’t have as much juice as larger tomatoes. This keeps the salad from becoming too liquidy. They are also just the perfect bite size amount. I leave the smaller tomatoes whole and slice the larger ones in half.

That being said, any tomato you have on hand or prefer will work just fine. Mostly just use the freshest tomatoes you can get your hands on.
