Philly Cheese Sloppy Joes
Okay, for all the die-hard original cheesesteak fans out there. . . no this will not taste exactly like a legit Philly Cheesesteak. Nothing compares to the real deal. I consider this a Philly Cheesesteak inspired sloppy joe. Taking the great cheesesteak flavors and incorporating them into a favorite weeknight dinner.
Adjust this recipe to your preference. I use a mix of red, yellow and green bell peppers because I find green bell peppers to be a tad bitter by themselves. But if you like green bell peppers feel free to use just green. I also don’t like provolone cheese so I use mozzarella instead. It’s totally up to you.

Notes
Nutrition
No. Traditional Philly cheesesteaks use thinly sliced ribeye steak on a hoagie roll. This recipe uses ground beef for convenience and affordability while keeping similar flavors.
Yes. Prepare the meat mixture up to 2 days in advance and store in the refrigerator. Reheat gently on the stovetop before serving.
Soft hamburger buns, brioche buns, or hoagie rolls work well. Toasting them helps prevent sogginess.
