Slow Cooker Ranch Pork Chops Without Canned Soup
These slow cooked pork chops are simple with just a few ingredients. We aren’t using canned soup because, honestly, I don’t use that as an ingredient a whole lot. But, if you are looking for the saucy canned soup type of pork chops (no judgement here) there are plenty of that style of recipe around the web.
Nope. We’re using pork chops, potatoes, olive oil, dry ranch mix, apple cider vinegar and butter. No special ingredients needed.
How Long Do Pork Chops Take To Cook In A Crockpot
Cooking on high heat you want to do approximately 3 hours. On low, 5-6 hours should do.
What Type Of Pork Chop Is Best For Slow Cooking
While this recipe can be made with bone-in or boneless pork chops, I’m gonna be honest, boneless chops are not the best for slow cooking.
The bone helps to keep the pork chops from drying out.
What Temp Should Pork Chops Be Cooked To
Check out this handy Pork Temperature Breakdown by Pork.org. Basically for pork chops you want the internal temp to reach 145ºF-160ºF. That is a wide range because it depends how you like your pork cooked, medium-rare to well.
With that being said, these slow cooked pork chops will definitely be cooked through.
In the above photo the pork chops have been seared to seal in the juices and make them look more appealing. Below is the ‘dump everything in the slow cooker’ method.
Either way works. But as stated, the pre-seared chops look much better when serving and retain a bit more juice. You choose depending on preference and the amount of time you have to prep.

Marcy Krause says
I made this recipe tonight exactly as written. Thank goodness I didn’t have company over. It was very bland, boring, and looked unappealing.
Nicole Harris says
Aw, I’m bummed you weren’t a fan. And I totally agree that this is a rather beige looking meal.
Nicole Harris says
Thank you for giving this feedback. After a few similar comments I decided to add recipe notes with tips on a more flavorful (and visually appealing) pork chop. It also gave me the opportunity to redo the photos which were particularly heinous. Thanks again!
Jenny Cross says
I’m in UK could you tell me what’s in the the dry Ranch mix as I haven’t heard of this.
Nicole Harris says
Americans are obsessed with Ranch, like legit obsessed! It is basically a blend of powdered milk, dill, parsley, onion powder and garlic powder. There are some diy dry ranch seasoning online if you’re wanting to make it.
Mardi says
Try searing the pork chops before adding to the crock pot.
Marty stroh says
Maybe if the pork chops were browned a little before putting in the crockpot would help the look and possibly the taste.
Beth Lyon says
This was just not good. We couldn’t even finish it, and threw what was left away.
Nicole Harris says

Amber says
Forgot to get the crockpot out this morning and didn’t realize it until 4:30. 😬 Decided to give it a whirl in my instant pot. Only thing I changed, after reading some comments, was I used a whole pack of ranch mix. Pressure cooked for 18 minutes and it was tender, and juicy, and the potatoes were addicting! Loved this meal and it’s ease.
Nicole Harris says
Thanks for the tip. I should get some pressure cooker pork chop recipes onto the site 🙂
Marlene Reisman says
Did you use any liquid in your instant pot when cooking this dish?
MEGAN says
Hey thank you for the recipe! I made these yesterday and they were the best pork chops I’ve ever tasted. I did pan sear them first and I think that’s the trick to deliciousness. Thanks again from South Dakota
Nicole Harris says
Yes, if you have the time/desire getting a sear on first is definitely best. Glad you enjoyed 🙂
Phyllis Abbey says
Loved it
Nicole Harris says
Yay! I’m so glad 🙂
David says
Nicole I have made these twice an both time they have been great. I do meals on wheels to my mother in-law an she loves it. Today I’m doing it again but before I seen your notes I had already added garlic and a small onion (for flavor not a onion fan). I also read other comments an decided to add some other flavor from my spice cabinet. In about 5 hrs I will let you know how they taste. I have never seared the chops an I have done both bone in and no bone chops. Thanks for this great recipe.
Mary Ann says
I made this today, using some of the suggestions in the comments and really liked it. Definitely sear the meat and I used a whole packet of the ranch dressing mix. Also, I cut a whole medium sized onion into pieces and added quite a bit of garlic in with the potatoes. I’m thinking for a future meal, I would like sautéed mushrooms on the top at the end. I will make this again.
Nicole Harris says
Thanks for the tips, I like your version 🙂
David says
A good hearty meal. Some modifications I did
1. Add carrots, salt and pepper them and potatoes
2. Salt and pepper on the chops, I did pan sear
3. Add .5 cups of chicken broth
4 added coastal blend season from the spice and tea exchange
5 hours will do you well. Any longer the chops just fall apart
Nicole Harris says
Sounds great! I love your additions 🙂
Jaimie says
can you use Italian seasonings instead of ranch because I know some people don’t always care for ranch and I would love to try this recipe out on them
Nicole Harris says
Yes! In fact I just posted an Italian Pork Chop recipe ( https://wonkywonderful.com/baked-italian-pork-chops-and-potatoes/ ) I prefer the Italian too 🙂
CC says
This recipe is so bland! It looks delicious in your photos but looks are deceiving here. I added a whole packet of ranch, seared the chops and it still didn’t improve on the taste. I definitely will not be adding this to my recipe file.
Nicole Harris says
I never thought a pork chop recipe could be so divisive…people either love it or hate it. That is why I added recipe notes encouraging those that prefer stronger flavors to add more seasoning, etc.
Amanda Chum says
I guess everyone has their own taste preference 🤷 I make something like this often and we love it. I always add the seasoning the way I always prefer not what the recipe calls for. But follow the main things. I’m not sure why such mixed comments but honestly it’s not bad at all. My family enjoys when I make this Hardy meal. Definitely good for a cold day.
Nicole Harris says
Thanks! This is just one of those recipes that people either love or hate I guess. It happens 🙂
Bon says
I made these last night. I seared the chops as my husband had already purchased boneless ones. They were fall apart delicious after 5 hours! I also made some stuffing and had corn, and I used small red potatoes which I took out after 4 hours. Delicious!
Nicole Harris says
So happy you enjoyed 🙂
Barbara McDonald says
I made this today ,I loved it even my picky hubby quite liked it, the only thing he wants me to sear them next time. I did change one thing I used French onion soup instead of the ranch dressing as it is difficult to get here in Australia. It was very tasty
Nicole Harris says
Oh awesome! The French Onion Soup is a great idea … I may have to steal that 😀
Bettyjeane Hansmann says
Very bland not good at all plus I added the extra ranch seasoning & garlic did not make any difference! I will not make it again
Ella says
I’ve learned to read the comments BEFORE trying a recipe! I seared the chops and otherwise followed the recipe. They were NOT a hit, very bland and the meat was dry despite sitting in the liquid for hours. A pork roast with pork gravy and mashed potatoes is so much better!
Christie says
This was delicious however I modified the recipe. 1/2 c. Of olive oil is way to much oil with the butter. I seasoned the pork chops and seared them, used 1/4 oil, 1/4 water doubled the vinegar. I also drained the excess oil after cooking p, added more ranch seasoning to the gravy. Threw the potatoes in a hot oven to brown. We loved it
Archie Goyne says
Marinate over night in Evan Williams Kentucky Cider. Smoke at 150 degrees with mesquite of pecan for 1 hour. Then followed recipe adding onious and couple sprigs of fresh rosemary. Coked for 5 hours on low and chops could be cut with a fork.
Dawn says
Some dinners may look unappealing, but are absolutely delicious! Like Pea Soup, Lima beans & Black Eyed Peas! That’s what colorful side dishes are for! Can’t wait to make this for my family! Thank you for the recipe!!
Nicole Harris says
So true 🙂
Julie says
After its cooked add a cup of apple sauce into it and let it rest 10 mins before taking it out of the crockpot
Nicole Harris says
Oh, that sounds wonderful 🙂
Leah says
Well some could probably not be so negative with their comments. I am gonna try this recipe soon 🙂 Thanks for sharing your recipe with others ! That is very nice of you !
Nicole Harris says
This is a very divisive recipe…I never thought pork chops would divide the masses 😆 Hope you end up in the group that enjoys this recipe.
dwelihan says
terrible.. we threw out the pork chops and ate the potatoes. the pork was so dry.. save your time and money!
Nicole Harris says
I’m sorry this wasn’t a hit for you. This recipe has turned out to be very divisive. People either love it or hate it 🤷♀️ You may enjoy a quick cook pork chop instead, like this baked recipe: https://wonkywonderful.com/baked-ranch-pork-chops-recipe/
Laura says
I made this last night and it was delicious except when I mixed the Olive oil with the ranch seasoning and apple cider vinegar, it bound up into a ball. Has this happened to anyone else? I ended up doing them separately in order to make it work.
Nicole Harris says
Strange, I’ve never had that happen. I’m glad you made it work though.
Tonda says
It did on me, but I’m sure it will loosen up as it cooks. I’m cooking it right now, I added two packs of ranch onions little more vinegar seasoning salt. We’ll see how it goes. I’m sure it’s gonna be great
Amanda M Zucca says
Yes! That happened to me. I thought, how weird! It mixed fine with the potatoes and then I kind of spread it on the chops.
Meredith says
Yes! I just made mine now and I guess I waited ti long to pour the marinade in. I mixed the marinade and then chopped the potatoes and by the time I went to pour it in it was glue. I used my fingers to spread it on the chops.
Nicole Harris says
Oh no. Thanks for commenting. That must be why some folks have had that happen. I always mix right before adding to the crockpot.
Kiki says
Yikes! I didn’t leave enough time for both sets of crockpot sessions. Any suggestions on how to combine crockpot and regular oven?
Or suggestions on oven cooking?
(I can never fuss at my kids again for not reading the directions fully on assignments! :/
Nicole Harris says
I do have an oven baked ranch pork chop recipe. You’ll need to adjust a bit if still cooking the potatoes. And you’ll want to begin cooking the potatoes before adding the pork chops to the pan bc they take longer: https://wonkywonderful.com/baked-ranch-pork-chops-recipe/
Tammy M. says
I just prepared this today and it happened to me – I coated the potatoes separately but the mix was clumped when time for the chops so I had to smear the mixture on the chops.
Nicole Harris says
Weird. I’ll have to do some experiments to figure out the reason.
Cora says
Thank you for this wonderful and easy recipe. I made it last night for my daughter’s birthday dinner. It was a big hit! I doubled the amount of the ranch seasoning, added garlic and onions and seared the pork chops on my cast iron skillet. Perfection!!!
Nicole Harris says
Awesome!!!
Kayla says
Made today and pork chops turned out super dry, disappointed 😔
Nicole Harris says
Darn, I’m sorry this wasn’t a winner for you.
Sandy Cooks says
As a person writing recipes for others to enjoy you should be aware of the basic cooking requirements of pork. You suggest it is possible to enjoy your pork “rare” which is not in accordance with safe cooking practices for pork. I suggest you must research and correct this error asap
Nicole Harris says
Hi Sandy. If you click through the link labeled ‘Pork Temperature Breakdown by Pork.org’ it breaks down in detail the safe cooking temps for pork from medium-rare to well. I personally always cook my pork well but to each his/her own, I suppose. Just say no to pork sashimi. Here is the direct link within the post for additional info: https://www.pork.org/cooking/pork-temperature/ Thanks!
Darla says
Excellent recipe! Used in my instant pot after searing. Only took 20 mins of pressure cook time. Definitely will be making again. This recipe made me actually enjoy pork chops again.
Nicole Harris says
Thanks for your feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed 🙂
Nicole says
Did you increase the amount of liquid? I would like to try in my pressure cooker too.
Amanda says
Delicious. Cant wait to make it again. I took peoples advice and seared the pork chops before placing in the slow cooker. Put corn on top and some freshly chopped parsley to make it a little more colorful. Thanks so much for the recipe
Nicole Harris says
Love those add-ins 🙂
Austin Buddington says
thank you for sharing this! It came out great!
Nicole Harris says
Awesome!!!
Cheri Jones says
Making this recipe again for the second time. My family really enjoys this dish and I live with a picky 6yr little girl, a picky 19yr old daughter and a 57yr old very Italian man. Finding recipes that everyone can agree on can be tricky. However, I am making a couple simple adjustments, like adding a bit more of the ranch and a little less of the olive oil. But I would like to thank you for the great meal that’s easy enough to make on a Monday!
Nicole Harris says
Thanks for coming back to tell me. Sometimes it feels like folks only come back to comment if they don’t enjoy a recipe, so I really appreciate it 🙂
Cynthia N. says
Trying to go low carb. What other vegetables do you think I could use instead of potatoes?
Nicole Harris says
Mushrooms, cabbage or broccoli would probably go well with this. The mushrooms can cook a long while if left whole. Cabbage or broccoli would need to be added towards the end.
Kerri Bassett says
Excellent and super easy!! Love this recipe!
Thanks so much!
Nicole Harris says
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed 🙂
Sherri Harriman says
Do you think I could use russet potatoes?that’s a I have on hand
Nicole Harris says
Absolutely 🙂
Marianne says
Great recipe. Used the entire 1 oz pkg of the dry Ranch dressing mix. Also added an extra tsp of vinegar along with garlic powder, dried parsley & a large rough chopped purple onion. Yummy!!
One suggestion…. Do not mix marinade until you are ready to pour it over the chops/potatoes as it will clump up.
Nicole Harris says
Yes, thank you for sharing your version and tips 🙂
Juanita says
Excellent recipe and I’m not a pork chop person with help from the reviews saying not enough flavor this is how I fixed that I dredge the chops in a packet of ranch seasoning with a little corn starch to make crispy then seared them also kinda caramelized onions and garlic for more flavor then mixed another packet of ranch seasoning with the ingredients and poured over everything didn’t have any problem with it clumping and did everything else the same came out excellent made me like pork chops 😄
Nicole Harris says
Thank you for your tips. I love the changes you made 🙂
Jessica Quaglino says
How much water should u add to this?
Nicole Harris says
I don’t add water. I find that between the oil, butter and juices from the chops and potatoes it is good. You could probably add up to a half cup water if you prefer too.
Jaimee Bridges says
Just happened to me also
Bill says
If chops have to be seared prior to placing in pot why do you have a photo of raw meat with all the spices on your site?
Nicole Harris says
Because you can do it either way. Browning seals in the juices a bit and the end result looks more appetizing. I did both ways.
Meghan says
Very good! I will definitely be making this again. Followed the recipe verbatim. Thanks!
Amber says
I don’t have apple cider vinegar, can I use something else or leave out the vinegar?
Nicole Harris says
It can be omitted.
Lyndsay says
Can I book on low for only 8 hours instead of the 2 levels? I work during the day and love crock pot recipes because they are so easy!
Nicole Harris says
I imagine it will work, however, I have not tried the constant low setting.
Sonjia says
Could you add green beans? If so, would you leave out the liquid?
Nicole Harris says
You could use green beans. I think they would need to be added towards the end bc they will take less time to cook.
Kate says
“5. Cooking on high heat for approximately 3 hours. On low, 5-6 hours.”
Wait, I’m confused. I assumed this step mean cook on high for 3 hours OR on low for 5-6 hours. That’s how most slow cooker recipes are formatted to be read as. But based on this comment and your reply, are we meant to cook it on high for 3 and then switch it to low for another 5-6 hours (8-9 total)? That’s fine and can be done but you might consider rewording step 5 to be less ambiguous to readers. This looks great and I want to give it a try but I know i absolutely would not have cooked it for the correct amount of time had i not seen this comment asking about two cooking levels. Thank you
Nicole Harris says
Gahhh, yes you are correct. Cook on high 3 hours OR low 5-6 hours. Sorry for the confusion, I must’ve been having a ‘moment’ when replying to comments.
Jeff says
I use a half vinegar and half apple juice. This mixture works well for me
Katie Lingefelt says
Hello. I’ve cooked your recipe before and it was DELICOUS!!!!! But when I cooked I was making it for more people but this time I’m only making it for two so I was going to use only 4 pork chops and a 1.5 pound of fingerling potatoes (that’s what I have on hand and I have all the other ingredients and don’t really want to go to the grocery store for just the potatoes) and then maybe only cook it for 1 1/2-2 hours. Do you think that would be okay? I just don’t think I need to cook it for the full 3 hours because I don’t want the potatoes to burn and get too mushy and I don’t want the pork chops to become tough.
Nicole Harris says
Should be fine. Just check the chops to ensure they are cooked through 🙂
April says
This used to be true, but a few years ago they changed the recommended guidelines for pork products. It is now acceptable to eat pork to differing degrees of done, the same way that you cook a steak.
Yvonne says
YUCK, won’t make again ……sorry
Marie says
What Happened when you made this. You must of done something WRONG. Anyway I enjoyed all the other NICE words everyone else said. You must be a Miserable Person. Because you sound So Hateful. Change your Ways or your going to Die One Lonely Person.
Jennifer G. says
Hi, I followed the recipe exactly and the chops were great. I used and seared thick bone-in chops and slow cooked them for six hours.
Thank you.
Jonathan Zancha says
Hey Nicole, when I mixed the oil and ranch seasoning it coagulated. Is that normal? Not sure what I did wrong?
Nicole Harris says
Some commenters have had that issue. It seems to happen if it gets mixed then sits for a few minutes. Works best if mixed immediately before adding.
Shelly says
I just made this. It was good. But I agree with the comment to add a little more ranch seasoning and I bet it would be good with sweet onion and minced garlic.
Lauren says
This was so good…thank you! I did use the whole packet of dry ranch seasoning and I added onions and garlic. I also roasted the potatoes in the oven after soft to get them crispy and turned the juices from the slow cooker into a gravy! Really good!
Terri Hughes says
Made this recipe while our daughter and family were visiting and all of us absolutely loved it for flavor and tenderness. Even the potatoes cooked well, which for me isn’t always the case. Definitely a keeper. Good job. Thanks
Nicole Harris says
Awesome!!!
Robi bart says
Can you use russet potatoes instead of red ones?
Nicole Harris says
I’m sure it would work fine.
Catherine Moats says
I wish I could leave a picture ..this was a fabulous meal.Im 49 years old and have never cooked w/ranch. My husband and love a lot of flavor so before making I read your reviews.Instantly knew I needed to beef it up.Our twist was to put the red potatoes in w/chopped yellow onion. Then adobo seasoning , dried parsley ,smoked Paprika ,pepper ,minced garlic and then pour on the ranch sauce mix. Then because of the corona virus I could only find boneless center cut pork.I seasoned the chops w/adobo and pepper and seared in a pan and then layered on top of potatoes. Next I seasoned w/all the same ingredients that I put on potataoes. Then I sprinkled on ranch powder and then the ranch mix.4 1/2 hours on low and the last hour on high.Delish..thank you! Next I want to make ranch fried chicken🤗
Nicole Harris says
Love all of your ideas and additions 🙂
Emaline says
Opinions vary.
Nicole Harris says
So true.
Donna Cummings says
I’ve been cooking mine now for about 1 1/2 hours now. I’m using 8 bone-in center cut. I increased the ingredients a slight bit to accommodate. I still don’t think there is enough liquid. I really hope this turns out okay or it will be a total waste. Plus I’ll have a house full of hungry people. Any recommendations?
Cynthia says
Has anyone tried making this in the instant pot or other pressure cooker?
Sheri says
A quick fix to this is add a couple tablespoons of water and mix. Then it will mix all together and won’t be coagulated.
Mona S Garrison says
I don’t usually have ranch packets, but I do have homemade gravy mix (Ifound a recipe). Do you think that could work?
LISSA says
Love this recipe. I used an extra package of ranch and its was so good!
Olivia says
Can you use a pressure cooker?
Terri Henderson says
Made this dish last night, it is sooo good. I made 8 pork chops and quartered maybe 6-8 potatoes. Between me, my husband and my son there was absolutely none left once dinner was complete. I only had one but my husband and son ate everything else. It was so nice not having any leftovers.
Robin D says
I’m usually not a huge fan of pork chops but this recipe really surprised me. Chops were flavorful, tender and not dry. Potatoes delicious with the sauce that formed in the crockpot. YUMM. I might just have to buy pork chops again!
sally says
Made this tonight and the flavor was fantastic but between the olive oil and the butter it seemed really greasy. Do you think beef broth could be subbed for part or all of the olive oil? Thanks!
Tara says
I wondered about using the liquid for gravy, looks like a good amount of fat for making gravy! I’m gonna try the leftovers with gravy over rice.
Jean says
I decided to use yams this time. I used 4 pork chops and 2 pound of yams. I put the yams in a baggie with 1/4 cup of garlic oil and 1 tablespoon of Weber white wine marinade mix and shook until coated I cooked the chops in butter and garlic oil this time longer until they looked like the photo you posted. I then Mixed the remaining oil and marinade mix and Poured it over the top.
carolina says
I don’t love pork chops. Have you done this with any other cut of meat? like a pork tenderloi
Shene says
We are senior citizens and don’t eat much. Two chops are plenty for us. Should I cut the rest of the ingredients in half. It sounds like a lot of oil for two chops. Of course I will use les potatoes.
Lisa says
Levto eras are great!
Sam says
How much Apple cider vinegar? I can’t find any measurements on this recipe.
Casina says
I added the whole ranch as well. I also seasoned with onion and garlic powder with garlic and herb seasoning. After pork chops were done I put in oven until they turned brown.
Reiko says
This was a great recipe! I did use half the olive oil but doubled the dry ranch seasoning and apple cider vinegar. I added roasted garlic cloves and fresh parsley since I had them on hand. After the pork was ready, i drained the juices into a saucepan, added a little salt, additional ranch seasoning and cornstarch and made a gravy. Excellent! I think this would also work well with chicken breasts too.
Brandi says
It says 2 teaspoons in the ingredient list
Mandi Kerr says
I’m thinking of adding mushrooms with a whole ranch packet extra seasonings and maybe some beef broth for extra juice… thoughts and feelings? 🤔
Nicole Harris says
Sounds great!
Rachel says
Thank you for recipe came out great!! I did sear them with plenty of salt and pepper. Added some broth , onion and garlic to crock pot cooked high for 3 hours super tender and juicy. Not much of a ranch flavor but that’s ok cause they tasted great . Especially loved the addition of apple cider vinegar. I did sauté some onions and mushrooms to put on top after 😃
Reiko says
As others, I did sear the pork chops but dusted with flour beforehand and seasoned with salt and pepper. I added chopped carrots as well as a chopped onion and roasted garlic. I have made it in the crockpot as well as the instant pot (high pressure for 20 min then natural release after another 15 min). I made a gravy with the juices by adding a bit of cornstarch as well as poultry gravy powder. This was very good!k
Maryellen says
I made this for Dinner tonight. It was amazing! My husband agrees 😃 Thank you for sharing 💕
Anna Sanders says
Me and my family were not fans of this recipe. I expected much more flavor out of the ranch seasoning. I seared the chops first, then added to the crock pot. When done, they were extremely dry. I don’t know what else it could have needed, but it was so oily and bland.
Viktoria Aiken says
It looks really good in the picture but very dissapointed when cooked and followed exact directions .
Perhaps be more realistic.
Kate says
I guess you have to have a thick skin to post a recipe. So many mean comments. That’s is uncalled for. If someone puts themselves out here please try to be a little bit appreciative. If you don’t like it exactly as written consider it a method & tweak it for your own preferences. It’s unnecessary to be nasty or unkind.
Lynnette Shimmin, BSN RN CLNC says
We did it exactly as the directions said to do & the meat was flaky dry. Next time we’re doing it in our Instant Pot also!
Kim says
Recently made this. I added zucchini for extra veggies. I think I might add some lemon slices as well for extra flavor. I think it is pretty good and I can see adding more stuff in the future.
Sharon says
We tried this tonight and really enjoyed it! I used bone-in pork chops and a non-dairy ranch seasoning and Melt vegan butter as I’m dairy-free. I seared the pork chops beforehand and it turned out great! Thanks for giving us something new to try.
Oksana says
Can I make this in the oven?
Maria Ruiz-Hays says
Thanks for the recipe. I too did this on the Instapot for 16 minutes. Other variations: cut the oil in half, subbed with ½ c of chicken broth. Dredged the pork chops in a flour salt, pepper, ranch seasoning mix and then seared them. Added a large yellow onion, and garlic and seasoned the potatoes with a little salt and pepper. T was fast, and incredibly delicious. The porkchops were one inch bone in and so incredibly tender. Thanks for providing the starting point!
Deb says
Why would you start out showing a picture w BONELESS chops and almost immediately say you don’t use boneless because bone-in is so much better!? Guess you may not be using your own pictures?….
allamericanwarrior says
We made this dish last night and like you said it was boring and my chops came out dry. Only good part were then potatoes. Followed the steps to the letter but not happy. Needs tweaking for sure.
JUDI B BYERS says
Seriously! Some people are so rude! And they should be called out, like your reply did, Marie. “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Or at least include specifics.
JUDI B BYERS says
Chicken broth is my go-to with pork.
Sherry Fuller says
I don’t know when I’ve ever seen so many comments on a single recipe! I read most of them and almost didn’t try it because of the negative comments. I took most of the ideas to heart though and went ahead. I added more ranch seasoning, a whole sweet yellow onion cut in 8ths, two more teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, and a quarter cup of chicken stock. I also reduced the amount of olive oil but wondered why it was even needed. I looked at several similar recipes and noticed that none of them called for any kind of oil at all. My chops were very thick, so I cooked them on low for 8 hours, and they still were not fall apart tender. I am convinced that many of those who were complaining about the blandness had pork chops that were very thick. I’ve had that problem with every recipe I’ve made with this last batch of pork chops I ordered. They are so thick and dense that the flavors have a hard time permeating the meat. We enjoyed the meal, but I think it would have been a whole lot better with thinner chops. Just wanted to throw in my two cents worth.
Kenneth randall says
So you cook it on high for 3 hours or low for 5 to 6?

I made this tonight, it’s cooking as I’m typing this. After reading the reviews I added about 1/2 cup chicken broth, the rest of the ranch packet, garlic and onion powder, cooking on high 3-3.5 hours. Plus I diced in some “new potatoes, skins on, I’ll let you know.

I agree with you. The guidelines on pork have changed because trichinosis is not an issue anymore. I like my pork tenderloin slightly pink, but I want my pork chops to be fork tender. Using bone in with some marbled fat is perfect for a slow cooker.

What r the macros without the potatoes??
This is a family favourite!!

Thank you for posting this quick meal. That’s exactly what I was looking for on a hot summer day after church not wanting to turn the oven/stove on. I read every single review. I seasoned and added a lil oil to the potatoes before adding to Crockpot. I lightly seasoned and pan seared the pork chops. Purchased thin bone-in pork chops. I can tend to over season didn’t want to do that with adding the whole packet of ranch seasoning. The chops were a lil bland, it was definitely edible and the potatoes made up for it. Maybe next time I’ll add two ranch packets. Definitely worthy of making again. Cooked on high for 3.5hrs. Thanks again for the lovely, easy, quick recipe.

Just made this! I made the sauce with an extra tblspn of ranch, acv, and evvo. Also added garlic and a little Tony chacheres creole seasoning! Once cooked I added corn starch to the dripping and made a gravy! Delicious!!!

I always season my meat before I put it in the crockpot.

I made this today and followed the extra flavor comments, was very good, my chops were dry though, they were extra thick so that may have been it, so I made a gravy for them. My only other concern was that there is a lot of grease, 1/2 cup of oil and then a pat of butter on each pork chop, left a lot of grease on the potatoes. I think next time I will use a broth or stock instead of the oil

HI What if I took out pork chop for Chicken. What changes would I make to the recipe?
Dominique Bailey says
Not sure what happened with this recipe but it’s very bland, boring, and pork was overcooked. I followed the recipe to a T; even added all the extras based on the author’s notes (plus extra seasoning based on some 9f the comments) but still a no go. Sorry but this is not something that I will try again.

I wanted this to taste good I even followed the notes but the acv was too overpowering for us. So I will try again and maybe less or eliminate it all 🤷♀️

Made this and the pork chops were ok, but we loved the potatoes. I probably won’t do the chops again but I will use this to make the potatoes as a side dish. I did tweak a little by halving the oil and doubling vinegar along with whole packet of ranch. Thanks so much!

I made these and instead of apple cider vinegar, I added zesty Italian dressing I pretty much eyeballed how much to put in. Was very flavorful.

I have made this recipe twice for me and my husband. We both love it! But I have always put in the entire package of ranch dressing. And a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I use boneless, thin pork chops in the crock pot and they are so tender you can cut them with a butter knife. I seared them the first time but not the second and didn’t notice a difference.

I’m a grown woman who is a complete cooking novice. I cooked this on low for 5.5 hrs and the pork chops were a bit chewy. I seared the chops first. Should I lower the time?
Haleigh says
Dry pork chops and flavorless. Seared with salt and pepper. Added in your additions – onion and more dry ranch. Waste of expensive pork chops sadly.
