I decided to do a riff on mashed potatoes and gravy with the flavors of Sweet Potato Casserole.  What do you get when you combine those two dishes?  Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallow Gravy, of course!

Believe me, this Thanksgiving dish will be a hit.  It tastes so good that I may have eaten half a batch by myself.  Don’t judge until you taste for yourself!  Switch out your usual Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe for this version.

I can’t wait for Thanksgiving.  We do a small gathering at my house with lots of appetizers {my favorite} and all of the usual holiday dishes.  But my absolute favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is picking at the leftovers the next day.  Turkey sandwich, lots of mayo, cranberry sauce and crisp lettuce . . . Oh Yeah!  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.  What is your favorite thing about the holiday feast?

If you need a little help planning your Thanksgiving meal {and are a last minute planner like me} . . . check back here in a couple days.  I will be posting a Virtual Thanksgiving Dinner that includes some amazing traditional dishes from a few fantastic blogs that I love!  You are not going to want to miss the Thanksgiving dishes that I hand picked.

  1. Mmmm this is super creative and sounds so delicious! Love the “marshmallow gravy”. Okay, this might be a super dumb question, but what exactly is marshmallow creme? Not sure if I’ve ever seen it. Is it like marshmallow fluff? Or more like marshmallow topping you find for ice cream and such? Or is it something completely different and I’m way off?

Thanks Chris! Marshmallow Creme and Marshmallow Fluff are the same thing. I was actually debating which term to use when I was writing this recipe today. I think I’ll go make a note in the recipe so that it is clear. Happy holidays :D

  2. We made this today on a whim and it was a crowd fav. The dish ended up back in the oven after we put the “gravy” on and it puffed up while remaining runny. I’m sure I’ll make these again next year.. Really nice way to serve sweet potatoes!

  4. Oh my goodness, I’m pinning this right now. And I’m not going to wait until Thanksgiving to try it. :)
