Banana bread is my absolute weakness! Many years I choose to have banana bread as my birthday dessert instead of cake. Now I don’t need to choose. I’ll just have my Mommy make this Buttermilk Banana Cake Recipe with Vanilla Buttermilk Glaze for me!
This banana cake recipe creates the best texture, in my humble opinion. And the vanilla buttermilk glaze makes this a truly incredible and indulgent dessert. I use one of my all-time favorite vanilla ingredients, Rodelle Vanilla Paste. Vanilla paste adds loads of vanilla flavor as well as those gorgeous vanilla speckles in the glaze.

Apologies Diane. My recipe formatting was on the fritz the last couple weeks. My tech gal helped me get it sorted out and it should be working now. There is a print button next to the recipe. Enjoy!
Sona says
I only have 2 overripe bananas. will that be ok or will it alter the taste?
Nicole Harris says
Sorry for the delayed response. I imagine those bananas are long gone. 2 bananas should work. The banana flavor will be more mild and the cake may not be as moist.

Hi Nicole, I really want to make this recipe this morning. I have everything but vanilla paste. What would you suggest I replace it with?
Nicole Harris says
You can use regular vanilla extract 🙂
Kelly says
Is it just me, or are you missing the powdered sugar quantity in this recipe for the glaze?
Nicole Harris says
Thanks for pointing that out. There was an update to my website and I seem to have lost vital info on some of my recipes. I’ll go edit that recipe with the glaze ingredients 🙂
Peggy Hittle says
Does this have to be refrigerated?
Nicole Harris says
I don’t refrigerate it but keep it in a cool place. If it’s hot in your house you may want to refrigerate.
