I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first heard of Microwave Potato Chips.  It sounded too good to be true.

But, I’ll try anything once.  And I sure am glad that I decided to give this a try.

These potato chips are extremely simple to make, especially if you own a mandoline.  Flavor the chips however you want.  Microwave for a couple minutes on each side.  Then enjoy crunchy and flavorful chips!

I decided to make Salt and Vinegar Chips because that is my favorite flavor combo.  Perfect for my salt cravings!

There is my favorite OXO kitchen gadget, the mandoline.  It makes slicing potatoes a breeze.  If you do not own a mandoline, just slice the potatoes as thin as possible with a knife.  Hopefully your knife skills are better than mine.

See that acoustic guitar in the background of the photo?  That is for my 2014 goal.

At the beginning of each year I choose a goal.  A skill that I want to learn.  This year I decided that I want to learn how to play the acoustic guitar.  By the end of 2014 I will be able to play my goal song from start to finish with the help of the dude on GuitarLessons.com.  {That is an awesome site if you are wanting to learn how to play guitar!}

These Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar Microwave Potato Chips remind me of a snack that would be enjoyed with a mug of warm beer, in a dark pub while listening to a folksy guitar player.

  4. I just saw some crazy $30 pan/plate at Bed Bath & Beyond today for making potato chips in the microwave. I thought it sounded to crazy to be true, and yet here you are with these awesome looking potato chips! I will definitely be giving these a try. :) Parchment paper is much cheaper!

    • Nicole Harris says:

Haha, parchment paper is musc cheaper and takes up less room in the kitchen. And, these microwave chips really do work. I was skeptical too!

  5. Hitouuki Ogihara says:

It was very successful. I put graham powder when roasted and put Japsnese grained seaweeds on them when completed#

  6. Lorena Perez says:

Do you know if I can make apple chips out from this recipe? Im Diabetic so I can´t eat potatoes… so I wanna try with apples… thanks!

    • Nicole Harris says:

Hi Lorena! I have not tried apple chips yet. But great idea! Let me know if you try it. I’m curious if it will work.

    • Debbie Norton says:

Apple chips are dried not cooked, try reducing your power level to 10% and dry with a towel first keep your times short as you dry to ensure the sugars in the apple don’t burn. you can dry lots of things in the microwave in small amounts. But a food dehydrator will work best. you can even sprinkle cinnamon and powered jello to change out the taste., Oh the potato chips are great cooked in the microwave, thanks for posting the method.

  7. Tora Stanley says:

I’m going to the store to get the madoline right now – this is just great – Hmmmph – and my co-workers think a person will die if something is “cooked” in the microwave… wait’ll I show ‘em!
