Quinoa Tuna Salad Without Mayo
I used to eat a lot of tuna sandwiches back in my youth. Nowadays I try to limit the amount of mayonnaise that I eat. Also, most of the canned tuna brands that I had eaten for years started to taste a little too fishy for my liking {ehem . . . a little too catfood-y}.
I was excited to taste a new canned tuna product with the hope that it would have that great tuna flavor without the potent fishy smell. I am happy to report that Ocean Naturals Wild Premium Tuna tastes Awesome! It has a clean tuna flavor and mild smell. With the great taste, health benefits, ethical fishing practices and the affordability . . . I can honestly say that this will now be one of my pantry staples!
So the Ocean Naturals Canned Tuna was good to go. Now I just needed to figure out a way to transform my favorite tuna sandwich into a healthier version. A tuna sandwich without bread and mayo . . . I had to put on my thinking cap for this one!
A tuna salad quinoa bowl, of course! I have fully jumped on the quinoa bandwagon. Quinoa is an extremely versatile and healthy base ingredient that I knew would taste great in a tuna salad recipe. Add the wild premium tuna and fresh ingredients for a wholesome meal.
Now my family and I can enjoy our tuna salad in a fresh and healthy way!
