Basic Chaffles Recipe
I must admit that I was super skeptical the first time I heard about Chaffles. A waffle made without flour that tasted just as good, I mean, come on. I was shocked that first time I made Chaffles. I liked them even more than traditional waffles.
These Keto Waffles are great served with butter and sugar free syrup for a low carb breakfast. But my favorite way to eat Chaffles is as a sandwich. Slap any of your favorite sandwich fillings between two Chaffles and you have yourself a fantastic low carb sandwich!
Why Are They Called Chaffles
They are made with cheese and they look like waffles. Chaffles, Cheese Waffles.
I’m not sure who first created Chaffles but whoever they are, Pure Genius.
What Are Chaffles Made With
There are a lot of different variations. Pretty much every Chaffle recipe involves egg and cheese. Some use Keto friendly flour, some don’t. Some include baking powder, others do not. Cream cheese or mayo make an appearance in many recipes.
I tried tons of different types of Chaffles before creating my perfect Chaffle recipe. I want a keto waffle that is not just egg and cheese because, let’s be real, that is an omelet. Baking powder adds nothing. It does make the batter fluff up but it also makes the batter more likely to ooze out the sides of your waffle iron. Shredded mozzarella is the cheese you want because its mild flavor blends in and isn’t noticeable.
Almond flour or coconut flour can be used in this recipe. Whichever you prefer or have on hand. I like to use coconut flour for sweet recipes and almond flour for everything else.

How To Make Chaffles

- Stir in almond flour and salt.
- Grease waffle iron with oil or nonstick spray. (I prefer using oil)
- Pour half of the batter onto waffle iron and close lid.

- Grease waffle iron and pour the remaining batter onto waffle iron. Cook 4-5 minutes.
Can You Freeze Chaffles
Yes, individually wrap Chaffles in plastic wrap or foil and freeze. Thaw or microwave to thaw. Reheat on skillet or in waffle iron for best results.
Can You Reheat Chaffles
Yes. I typically make a double or triple batch so that I have extra Chaffles in the fridge. Chaffles can be microwaved for 10-15 seconds to reheat, although the texture will be much softer than when cooked fresh.
For best results, reheat on skillet or on the waffle iron.
What Do You Eat With Chaffles
You can eat Chaffles just as you would regular waffles. With butter and sugar free syrup.
Or my favorite way to eat Chaffles, make a sandwich. The BLT Chaffle Sandwich below is a quick, easy, low carb meal.
