HOT BUTTERED RUM

HOT BUTTERED RUM is a classic wintertime holiday cocktail. A simple blend of butter, brown sugar, spices and rum served hot.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • cup brown sugar
  • tsp Cinnamon
  • tsp Ground cloves
  • tsp Nutmeg
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  • 1 cup water or apple cider
  • 3 ounces rum
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Extra cinnamon or nutmeg for topping.

Instructions

  • In a heat safe bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and spices.
  • In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water or apple cider to a boil.
  • Pour liquid over the butter and spices. Stir to combine and dissolve brown sugar.
  • Add rum, stir.
  • Pour into two mugs.
  • Top with whipped cream and, optionally, a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.
