Walnut Butter Baklava Spread

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Shelled Walnuts
  • 2 Tablespoons Softened Butter*
  • 1/8 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan or Sea Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Honey I used Orange Blossom Honey
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar optional - for extra sweetness

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300°
  • Arrange walnuts in an even layer on baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, stirring half way through.
  • Allow to cool at least 20-30 minutes.
  • In a large food processor; process walnuts for approximately 4-5 minutes or until it transforms into a smooth nut butter. Stop to scrape sides of the processor during this time as necessary.
  • Add butter, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, honey and sugar.
  • Pulse until ingredients are incorporated then STOP. Do Not Over Process!
  • Transfer to a clean jar or airtight container and store in refrigerator.
  • Stir before use.
  • Use within 2 weeks because homemade nut butters do not contain preservatives.

Notes

*Omit butter for a dairy free spread.
