Ingredients

Cake

  • Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Butter - softened
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/3 Cup Blood Orange Juice about 1½ oranges
  • 1/4 Cup Whole Milk
  • Zest of 1 Blood Orange

Glaze

  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Blood Orange Juice
  • Zest of 1 Blood Orange

Instructions

Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Mix in eggs, milk and juice.
  • Slowly mix in dry ingredients.
  • Stir in zest.
  • Spread batter evenly into a round 8x2 inch cake pan that has been sprayed with nonstick.
  • Bake on center rack for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted and removed clean.
  • Remove from oven. Carefully remove cake from pan and allow to cool on racks.

Glaze

  • Thoroughly mix glaze ingredients until smooth.
  • Pour on top of cooled cake and spread to the edges.
