Equipment

Ingredients

  • GYRO MEAT:
  • 4 pound beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 6 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • ¼ cup water
  • TZATZIKI SAUCE:

  • ½ cup grated cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill

Instructions

  • Place beef roast in your slow cooker. Place the onions, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, lemon juice and water.
  • Cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH 4-6 hours until tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  • Prepare tzatziki sauce - In a small mixing bowl combine the yogurt, cucumber, lemon juice, garlic, salt and dill.
  • To make the gyros spread the tzatziki sauce on pita bread, fill pita with meat and your preferred add-ons: red onion, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, etc.

Notes

Make the tzatziki sauce ahead when you put the roast in, the longer it sits the better.
