Ingredients

  • 1 package of 12 King's Hawaiian Original Rolls
  • 15 oz can of chili or 2 cups homemade chili
  • 6 hot dogs
  • 1-½ cups shredded colby jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Poppy seeds for garnishing

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
  • Spray bottom of a large baking sheet or 9x13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Cook hot dogs according to package instructions. When done, cut into ½ inch pieces. (boil, grill or pan fry)
  • Using a bread knife, carefully cut the hawaiian rolls into two equal portions, a top and a bottom, by cutting through the center, all the way around. You do not need to break apart the individual rolls. Place bottom portion into baking dish.
  • Spread chili over the bottom portion of the rolls.
  • Top with hot dog pieces, distributed evenly then layer the cheese. Place top portion of rolls on top.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mix together melted butter and seasonings (except for poppy seeds)
  • Using a silicone brush, gently brush the mixture over the rolls, coating them heavily and evenly. Sprinkle poppy seeds over the top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and the cheese has fully melted. Uncover the last 5 minutes to brown tops of rolls.
